Many churches like the focus of 40/1 as it keeps the individuals right where they want to be, in their seats. It will be a challenge to move away from such a focus. Sunday services are sacred and I found out just how much when i suggested that we as a church should begin to give some of that energy to other things such as living on mission and seeking to win others to following Christ.
